Since today my laptop has been trying to upload all files that were otherwise stored locally to OneDrive? Why is that and can I somehow prevent it, so that only files really end up on OneDrive that I really want there and everything else remains local on the hard drive? I'm not very knowledgeable about computers.
Ransomware protection.
Explanation: Ransomware is a type of virus that encrypts all your data and only gives it back under certain conditions, usually after a money payment.
Enter ransomware in the Windows search bar and you should find the ransomware protection settings of Windows Security.
Many thanks for the answer. Did that mean that this was purely a protective measure or is there already a virus on my computer?
If I enter ransomware in the Windows search bar and then click on the search result, it shows me that the page is not available because my administrator has restricted access. Who is my administrator? It's my personal laptop.
Yes, purely a protective measure.
Actually, you should be an administrator.
Try: Control Panel \ User Accounts \ User Accounts \ Change your own account type and select Administrator.
You should then be able to access the ransomware settings.
