My HP laptop gave up after a year and a half. When I start it, everything works until it goes to windows logon. There the usual background image does not appear but only white / gray where Windows logon is written in pixilated font. As soon as I press the space bar or any other key, there's a blackscreen with a mouse (which I can move). Then I can't enter my PIN and none of the other functions work either. The only thing I did was turn it off with the on / off button.
Have you ever tried Safe Mode? Or select "last working configuration" beforehand after pressing the f8 key.
On my laptop, louder and f8 are the same keys and as soon as I stand to press f8 the black screen appears
You have to press f8 when starting.
