Got a new laptop today, but warranty has been running for 4 months?

Today my HP laptop I ordered arrived. As a precaution, I went directly to the homepage of HP and looked for the warranty of my laptop. It says that the laptop's warranty has been running since September, even though I bought the laptop again and switched it on for the first time today.

So I bought a used device? Or is there a mistake somewhere?

Re

This is certainly a return. Complaint.

If you have not bought laptop directly from HP but a dealer, it may be where the dealer has bought laptop, because the warranty has started. So you have to get the dealer warranty?

Ug

Thank you for your answer. But the original packaging seems to be unopened and it has been sealed by HP. My device as well as all accessories have no signs of use.

The start date of the warranty of my previous device with this dealer was or is correct (is also from HP). So I think that it does not matter where and when the dealer bought the device.

Pa

Then it is a mistake at the dealer just ask times?

Ug

I just called and said that the start date of the warranty should be wrong.

But I'm still afraid that has sold me a used device. Because otherwise the warranty will only be activated when you set up the device for the first time.

Errors can also occur in the largest companies. I would either personally or by email describe the situation and I'm convinced that you will receive the confirmation of the warranty extension in writing.

Ug

Thank you for your answer. This is not really about the warranty but more about whether my device is needed or not. I also own another device from HP and it was activated on the day I set up the device. That's why this case seems really funny to me today.

Ow

I once had the same case (only 2 months), it turned out that the device had been ordered and was not picked up on the agreed date. The warranty has been erroneously enforced on the agreed date.
I was able to get a written confirmation for the extension of the warranty to the seller (Saturn).
