Hello,
I wanted to install a larger M2 on my notebook. Currently there's a WD 520 with 500gb and I would like to install a wd blue 550 with 1tb.
I took out the old one, on which Windows is also installed, and I only use the untouched one. Boats over a win 10 stick and the new ssd is not recognized.
You can hardly set anything in the BIOS, who has an idea?
Does the card sit correctly?
You need a system such as Ubuntu Live and with it
Format your hard drive.
is it recognized in the Uefi (boot menu)?
The NVme's have a different connection from each other, as I see it correctly… Therefore this is not recognized either.
Yes, should sit correctly.
I swapped them back and forth a few times.
I also noticed that in the BIOS the old ssd remains under OS Boot Manager when the new one is inside.
I had the idea that it is permanently stored in the bios?
I'm not a professional now.
Yes, from the interface purely mechanical there are two, the M and the B, the standard can do both, the new only the M and the mainboard can also do the M.
According to other forums, it can be due to the interface and what type of transmission is set in the bios. The m2 can apparently be different pci.
Both SSDs are NVMe's, so I don't think you need to change anything that I can't do in the HP BIOS here anyway
The SSD is not recognized in the boot menu, the old one remains in the list.
Maybe it takes longer to recognize them? Other forums said you should leave it there for half an hour and see if it is recognized in the bios
Do you have any source / instructions that the board supports the M&B standard?
No, but the interface is marked with M and the SSD goes in smoothly. M and B have different numbers of pins.
But 100% I can't say that it is compatible
Then it will be because of it. To be on the safe side again, I would write an email to HP support.
If the SSD is not already recognized in the BIOS, booting an alternative operating system will not help either.
What is meant by Ubuntu live?
Where should it be on?
On the built with win 10, or on the new one, or as a boot stick or vm.
No idea
I added pictures to the thread
I think it's a rumor. Maybe load default values.
