I'm thinking of buying a monitor for my workstation and I was thinking about a 4K monitor, only… Is this my notebook packing?

I own an HP Omen with a GTX1070 (8GB graphic memory) and Gsync capable HDMI output, my laptop screen is only HD + at 120Hz (hence my concerns). Processor is an i7 7700HQ or something.

And in case everything would run smoothly, someone can recommend me a good price / performance monitor

Yes, of course, that's it.

Just take your gaming laptop with you to the store and try it out.

You can definitely connect the screen. It looks nicer and you can watch Youtube in real 4k. Which games you can play but in 4k is due to the setting and the system requirements of the game. Your laptop has just built a not so good screen (which is still damn good) but that does not mean that you can connect a better.

Yes, the Intel UHD already manages that from your processor! Only you can't necessarily play with it. The 1070 gets already with 4K alone problems in modern titles, with 144Hz there's not much, but in office applications falls asleep, even in 4K 144Hz

Price-performance-technical is only to be recommended here (of gaming pages not of size and design)
