Laptop restarts instead of shutting down?

I just pressed "shut down" three times on my laptop (Windows 10), but instead of actually shutting down, it just restarted. I have to say that I almost ran out of batteries. That happened to me yesterday too.

Why is that?

Could possibly be a blue screen when shutting down. Windows is often set to restart automatically when this happens.
