I tried to fix my laptop a long time ago. The problem is with the internal hard drive. This can't be partitioned. When I tried this, because I wanted to load Windows onto my laptop, I just got the message, "Drive can't be used because it could fail at any moment" or something like that. Now I'm wondering if I can just use any HDD hard drive with the same data, or a slightly faster one.

You can take any capacity. It only has to fit the size. 2.5 inch Hdd dimensions are included in the plates.
2.5 inches would be the size. I definitely recommend you a 2.5 inch SSD.
