What could happen if you remove a laptop key? My Num keys are very sticky and I want to clean them up, but I don't know if I should get the keys out.
Take a look at the model of your laptop and search for "clean laptop XY keys" on Google. This will work with some models, but I'm afraid not everywhere.
Hey, theoretically, you can remove the keys on your keyboard anywhere.
I think you have a laptop and it shouldn't be a problem if you put your fingernail under the key and lift it up slightly until it comes loose.
You can damage the keyboard when removing it, the same when installing it and you can cause more damage when cleaning it than it already is.
And whether the keyboard has to be taken out or not, you have to know for yourself and think a little whether your dexterity allows it
Well, I don't know how best to remove them from laptops, but you have to be careful not to break anything with the plastic parts. Unfortunately it can be a bit fiddly, but it works.
But I would try it first and if it still sticks then carefully try to get the button out of there, they are usually clipped into two plastic parts.
Search times for "keyboard scissors mechanism" and look at pictures. Most laptops have rubber domes and plastic scissors on them. In principle you can pull the buttons up and click back in afterwards, but if you are clumsy you could damage the scissors. In addition, you have to be careful with larger keys, these often have an additional metal support spring.
If you clean the rubber nipples, use a little (!) Isopropanol and let them dry well before you turn them on again (remove the battery beforehand if possible). As a rule, you shouldn't separate the plastic layers under the rubber studs, they are often welded together. I would also clean the plastic caps with IPA and let them dry well.
