Install a completely new operating system?

I now have a good PC and still my old laptop. The laptop is not that good now, but it is enough to experiment. In any case, Windows 10 is installed on the laptop. I would like to install Kali Nethunter on it now. However, I don't do this via Virtual Box, because it's just not the same and I want to install the correct operating system. Other than that, Virtual Box doesn't work on the laptop. I thank I'm for answers in advance

As far as I know it doesn't matter which operating system you use, it just has to be bootable on a stick or CD… Then it can also be installed.

Of course it is possible to install a completely new OS and that works mostly without problems in the graphical interface.

The only question is, why do you want a Linux distribution that is designed for pen testing and why you can't even install an OS in return?

Zy

OS is causing problems on the laptop, it works on my computer. Unfortunately, I can't tell you why. Why do I want Linux? I don't want to say that yet because I'm afraid that the question will be reported otherwise. 😅

What can I find on Wikipedia about pen testing:

The type of security test is based on the risk potential of a system, network or application at risk, which means that a web server, for example, has a higher risk priority than a simple word processor. The auxiliary tools for penetration tests are correspondingly numerous and accordingly such comprehensive security tests should only be carried out by experienced security researchers or system administrators who know what they are doing, what events they are causing and what results they want to achieve with them.

But I have my doubts that you can do that.

Do you get laughed at if you don't use Kali Linux, but a perfectly normal desktop Linux?

Na

Okay, so you want to do a Hackerman, then you want to install an Android system (Kali NetHunter) on an X86 and seem to believe that "Linux" is the same as "Kali Linux" (if you read your comments like this ) while you've never even installed an OS? This is going to be frustrating for you. But good: Copy the ISO onto a stick using Rufus, boot from the stick in the UEFI and then follow the instructions.

If that causes you difficulties, be prepared that Kali Linux doesn't have the magical hacking tools that make you a millionaire and hack super easy peasy credit cards, accounts, whatever. None of that can do that.

OS = Operating System.

Linux is also an OS.

Why do I want Linux? I don't want to say that yet because I'm afraid that the question will be reported otherwise.

The question is generally only cleared if you are planning illegal things. PenTesting is basically legal as long as you own the target or have authority over the target.

In addition, with an "old laptop", without the necessary infrastructure, you won't be able to do much in the field of pen testing, or even get far. Rather, it boils down to a pen test of the laptop.

What are you going to do exactly? For most "experiments", especially as a beginner, Debian / Ubuntu is usually sufficient and is more user-friendly anyway.

I wanted to test myself in hacking and learn a little bit about it. However, I do all of this in my Wi-Fi network. For example, if I want to hack my Wi-Fi network. 😅😉

au

Is not forbidden.

But you should start small.

Have fun.

Zy

Thanks, but do you know how to install a new operating system?

to

Of course you are laughed at. There are now only 4 ways for young people:

Win at GTNM.
Win at The Voice etc.
Become a YouTube influencer.
Use Klicki-Bunti-Windows for years and become a tough hacker in 2 weeks.

Everything else is laughed at and is worthless. * Irony end *

You have to download the appropriate Linux distribution as an ISO file and copy it "bootable" to a data carrier.

There are various tools for this, and Windows 10 can also burn it to CD's by default (right-click on ISO → Burn disk image).

But Rufus is simpler and more reliable, there's also the possibility to prepare a USB stick accordingly.

The idea of installing Kali-Linux on a computer is unusual. That doesn't quite fit with Kali's design idea. I also find it confusing that VirtualBox doesn't work. Why not?

What exactly is your question now? "Install a completely new operating system?" Yeah sure why not? It's unusual, but it works. I would rather recommend a different distribution than Kali.

Zy

I'm looking for the ISO file for Kali Nethunter. I can't find anything about it on the internet… Can you send me a link?

pi

https://www.kali.org/downloads/

This is the first link that Google offers when you search for "Kali ISO". Select "Live" to run Kali von Stick, Installer for offline installation and Net Installer for dynamic installation over the Internet.

Na

And again: Kali NetHunter is the ANDROID version. You want Kali Linux.

pi

Germanies Text Nop Model? I always suspected that there was more to it than that.

Zy

Thank you, you helped me a lot, I'm currently installing Kali
