Chrome OS (ChromiumOS) or Linux Lubuntu for bad laptop?

As you can read in the title, I'm considering another, not so hardware demanding, operating system for my bad laptop. However, I don't find anything about the ChromiumOS system requirements on the Internet. It just says it would run very fast. Now I don't know if I should use Linux Lubuntu or ChromOS.

Re

Chrome OS can only be obtained by purchasing a Chrome laptop because of a specially secured BIOS that protects you from malware. On normal laptops you have to use general Linux.

I would take Lubuntu.

Thanks for your answer, but…

This is not entirely true, because with CloudReady it is possible, if only a "packaged", to install Chrome OS. Believe that is called ChromiumOS. This comes very close to the original at approx. 90% and has, although few, good ratings.

First of all thank you for your answer, but could you give reasons, please?

Va

First of all, the question of which laptop it is about. Lubuntu is very comfortable and runs pretty stable. ChromiumOS is more of a craft alternative and doesn't run as frugally as Lubuntu.

Okay thank you

Re

I have never heard of Cloudready, mostly there are companies behind Chromium OS clones that serve a market that is very marked out. If you want to learn Linux and not just want to remain a user, use a "real" Linux based on Debian or Ubuntu to get started.

"Bad" is of course a broad term. There's also Bodhi Linux. Based on Debian, is very small (fits fully installed on an 8 GB SSD) and comes with everything you need. 👍🏻
