Does your laptop reset to factory settings?

Honestly I would not work with the pc on your laptop I may not have much idea but what if the viruses pass from your laptop to your pc… I would rather watch what data I can save from the laptop and then reset the laptop. Unfortunately, I don't know 100% whether that would really work. At least it worked for me

I think laptops are slower especially if they run without cables with cables they have power and they also need reception and the connection breaks very often. Viruses also slow down the computer. And you have to be able to do this with the touchpad because using the mouse is much easier to use.

It's best to reinstall Windows cleanly instead of trying to remove the viruses in any other way. If you tell me which operating system you are using, I can also explain how it works. A new installation is especially recommended when the system is running sluggishly. However, if your laptop is slow either way, reinstalling will not help in terms of speed. In such a case, a hardware upgrade would make sense. An SSD, for example, provides a significant speed boost. More RAM can also help, as I would install at least 8 GB these days. Since you haven't used your laptop for years, it will probably be quite old. You could also think about getting a new device straight away.

Download the AdwCleaner on your laptop and let it run there: https://de.malwarebytes.com/...dwcleaner/ This will remove ad and malware. Ad and malware is a major cause when a system runs slowly and sluggishly.

Then I recommend creating a Kaspersky Rescue USB Bootstick. This will also get rid of extremely stubborn pests that can't be removed while Windows is running. And this is how you do it:

Download Kaspersky Rescue Disk ISO: https://support.kaspersky.com/de/viruses/krd2018

Then write the ISO with Rufus https://rufus.ie/ on an empty formatted stick.
Boot the created stick on the laptop and follow the instructions of the assistant. If a pest is found, a message appears and you can remove it.
