I found my older laptop while cleaning up in the basement today, it has Windows 10. Unfortunately, I forgot my password. I don't have a reset disk that you need to reset the password. Does anyone have any idea what else I can do?
P. S. I already tried to delete it completely. But then it just says that there's not enough memory space to reset it. How stupid is that?!
Are you signed in with a Microsoft account on the laptop?
If so, you can change the password using the Microsoft account on another device.
What you could do is set up Windows 10 from scratch - but the old data will be lost.
No, I mean the local password
I'm already aware of that.
Do you mean delete windows and reinstall?
Hmm…
Yes, completely reinstall Windows 10, the entire hard drive is cleaned and reissued, but old data is gone!
The old data is not important because there's almost nothing on it anyway, only I have no windows key or installation
But don't know how to format the hard drive to be in Windows
You don't need to have anything.
Download here> https://www.microsoft.com/.../windows10
the Windows Media Creation Tool down, then simply run and reload.
The program does the rest, including formatting.
But how do I get it on the laptop? (is probably a stupid question)
Oh yes, you're on another PC now. From that you would have to download a Win-10 image file {ISO} and burn it to a CD - then set up the laptop again with this CD.
Haven't done that for a long time, but the Creation Tool also downloads the image, which you then have to burn onto a CD {or onto a USB stick}.
