Driving laptop with external monitor?

The screen of my laptop is broken and I bought an external monitor and unfortunately the repair costs around 200 euro since I currently don't have the money for a PC, I wanted to ask whether I can continue to drive as an external monitor normally or whether that is not good is?

So if you need it for work, have to be mobile and there's important data on it, it can be worth it to have it repaired, unless you want to get another laptop that might be even better. But if you only surf with it at home, it's not worth it. You can easily connect your laptop to the monitor by plugging in an HDMI cable. With older laptops there's also the option of using a VGA cable, but then you need an audio cable.
