I got a capture card on Christmas. This requires usb 3.0. When I connect it to my laptop I get an error message. The connections on my laptop are probably too old. What is the cheapest variant? Are there adapters for this?

I only know of a PCMCIA card that provides USB 3.0, but this does not work properly under Windoof 10 because there are only drivers for Windows 7. One should check with the laptop whether a PCMCIA slot is available.

Does your laptop have USB 3 sockets? (Recognizable by the blue "tongues" in the socket and plug.) Have you tried it out?

If your laptop still has a slot for PCMCIA extensions, the cheapest solution in the short term is a PCMCIA card with USB 3. In the medium and long term, a newer laptop is cheaper.
