Windows 7 crash?

I've already googled everything afterwards, where is one in the menu to go to this or that… But I can't get that far… As soon as I boot up the laptop, a system start-up repair comes immediately where I can't do anything. The laptop doesn't do anything else.

If you really need to reinstall Windows, I hope you have a second PC / Linux boot stick / Live Boot CD on hand. One of those things would be useful now. If you have one of these, prepare a Linux boot medium and a Windows installation medium. With this you can get any operating system to run via the boot menu (press F2, F8, F10, F13, Esc or Enf directly after the start button). Once here you can:

Secure data. (Backup is the most important)
Flat disk

Now that the hard drive is backed up (and empty), Windows can be reinstalled.

Great. No 2 PC available. But thanks anyway. 👍

If these requirements are not met, I would buy a second hard drive, replace it with the old one and then reinstall Windows there. If Windows is running again, the data from the old hard disk can be backed up.

Otherwise, Live Boot CDs are available as a ready-made add-on in some computer magazines. (mentioned as 'bootable from CD / DVD')

With these Live-Boot-CDs there are sometimes a lot of repair tools: [https://www.pcwelt.de/ratgeber/USB-Notfall-Stick-repariert-Windows-9569881.html] Since I have never used them (and hopefully never will need them - toi, toi, toi), I can't give any recommendations here.

Most Win7 laptops can be reset to the "factory settings" with the help of a Recover.
For many of them (e.g. From HP) this works even if Windows can't start.
This is done by pressing a certain F key when the laptop starts up.

Whether this is also possible with your laptop and which F key has to be pressed when starting can be found in your laptop user manual.
Which laptop do you have?
