My Lenovo G50-30 laptop probably has a bug in the operating system (Windows 8). When the laptop starts up, I get the message "Windows Boot Manager boot failed." Afterwards I press "enter", at the top left the message "checking Media" appears, followed by the message "EFI NETWORK 0 for IPv4 (68-F7-28-2D-B6-2E) boot failed."
After a phone call with Lenovo, I was recommended to re-play my operating system, e.g. Via USB stick.
Now my question: How do I do that? Do I have to buy Windows again? (A CD was not included with the purchase of the laptop and Windows 8 was preinstalled) And is there a chance I make everything worse, so I would rather leave that to a professional?
I'm very grateful for any help.
First you have to format the hard disk, if you Win 7 on it. But not at higher versions. On the Microsoft website you get bootable Windows versions, which you can then pull on the stick. It's best to take a blank stick and make sure it's bootable. I did not have to buy a new license.
Windows 8 is out anyway, you better load the Media Creator from Microsoft, and create a Installationsbedium (CD, stick) and install Win 10 Pro, there are also a lot of drivers here. The license you have to procure new, but must not be expensive, look at vollversion-kaufen.de, for example.
You need two things: access to another PC and an 8GB (or larger) USB stick whose data is unimportant or contains no data. Then you download this program:
https://www.microsoft.com/.../windows10 (I would upgrade to Windows 10 right now, it's better anyway, so I would use the upper link, otherwise look below)
https://www.microsoft.com/...indows8ISO
Then you create with the help of the Microsoft program (is child's play) a bootable USB stick. You then have to determine the installation yourself. I always select Custom, because the installer recognizes the old Windows key on its own (the key applies to Windows 8 and 10) and you can partition the hard disk (Caution: deletes all data).
Then you have a fresh installation and get rid of things like an unnecessary anti-virus program or preinstalled Lenovo programs.
In your place, I would save the data before, if they are important
An update of Win7 and Win8 goes to my knowledge still, because you have ev. No new license.
If you're lucky, only your Windows is broken, in the worst case, but also your hard drive may be defective and would then have to be renewed. The error occurs, however, even if in the bios of Uefi switched to Efi. You should check that first. How to do that, you can find on the internet.
If your hard drive and bios are in order, you can download an executable Windows 10 version directly from Microsoft, the easiest way is with the Windows Creation Tool. With the you can choose whether it should be written to a USB stick or a DVD. The product key from your Windows 8 may also work on Windows 10, so you'll have to try it. If not, you need a valid license, which you can buy relatively cheaply on the internet.
Amazing how nobody sees you trying to boot a networkOS that is not reachable. In bios, you have to set your disk containing Windows as the first boot option. If your record is not listed, check that it is properly connected. If so, then you really need to reinstall Windows or try to rebuild the bootmanager first: https://www.google.com/...en,2079024
It does not get any better, because I'm at work.
Officially it is not possible, but there should be some tricks on how to do it anyway.
