Laptop recommendation 2.0? - 1

Hi

I have to decide which laptop it should be…

It's not that I don't have a plan that could fit, but I can't find a suitable device for me.

After a long search, I found 2 (well actually 3 but the 3rd would be perfect, but at 2300 it just costs too much…)

First the https://www.lenovo.com/...40%2015iiL with the i7

Or the https://www.lenovo.com/...2TPL13L3Y1 also with i7

I like the display size of the c340, but not the keyboard

and with the l13 yoga it is the keyboard that I really like (Thinkpad stop) but the display, which is somehow too small for me with 13.3 ".

Now I wanted to ask if there's a l13 yoga in a 15 "version?

or another Thinkpad that has a full hd (4k I need and I don't want) touch display? It should remain a thinkpad, because as I said, the keyboard is very good. It doesn't even have to be a 2in1, just have a Tocu display (but usually they are 2in1: D)

from the specs it would be good if they are based on the 2 example laptops…

To the survey: Which laptop of the 2 would you want to own? (gladly in terms of the display size and keyboard.)

Fr

What requirements do you have at all?

Br

As described in the question above, they should correspond approximately to the 2 proposed laptops, i.e. I7, 16gb ram

kn

It doesn't have to be a laptop! Just get a gaming PC, which is cheaper and you get a lot more power!

Fr

You don't need a dedicated "graphics card"?

Br

Please answer the question.

I'm not looking for a gaming PC, but a powerful enough one for work (code, etc.) and a few games in the evening…

Br

No, I'm not looking for a gaming PC, but just one for work.

Have you already searched for laptops on Geizhals.de? - There you have a lot of filter options and maybe you can find exactly the laptop you want.

Ag

Do you have a special use case that requires an Intel i7?

Otherwise I would use a device with new AMD Ryzen.

Br

Yes, I have (unfortunately) 😅 since I didn't find any there 😕

Br

Yes, unfortunately… I have to meet the following requirements

I personally would use another laptop…

We recommend a notebook with a touch display and stylus that meets the following basic requirements:

Processor: min. Intel Core i5, optimal Intel Core i7 *

RAM: min. 8 GB *

Storage medium: min. 250 GB SSD storage *

Wireless standards: 802.11ac

Operating system: Microsoft Windows 10

Display size: at least 13 ", better 14", touch display with stylus Accessories: as required (wireless mouse, headphones, …)

* Computer science education: Intel Core i7, min. 16 GB RAM, 500 GB SSD

Ag

And from whom do the requirements come? Did you inquire why it has to be an Intel CPU?

Br

These requirements come from the canton (jep live in Switzerland) … I can't change that

Ag

Now I have to ask very stupid questions. It says: "We recommend a notebook…" There's nothing about "minimum requirements".
Maybe I'm riding too much on the semantics, but I don't really want to know why you need an Intel processor for computer science training. If it said: "X86 CPU with at least so many cores and so much GHZ" this would make sense to me.

So be it. I typed in the requirements at Geizhals and I have about 370 hits.
I don't know what your asking price is or if I missed something, but that should be more than enough choice.

PS: What I would definitely recommend to you is an illuminated keyboard. Because when working in the (semi) dark, this is an invaluable advantage.

Ag

And one more thing: You can of course get a 13 inch laptop. But I wouldn't really recommend it. The display size is certainly sufficient for a mouse cinema, but it is very small for reasonable work.

Br

Jo, I thought so too

But it is below, with the display, that it has to be a 13, better 14 inch with touch and pen input

Why exactly Intel? No idea 🤷♂️ But for inexperienced people, Intel simply works, and the drivers don't always look great with AMD.

What the hell, I have to have it

And thanks for your effort.
