Have a notebook from 2012! Do I have to change the thermal compound at some point?

Use my Lenovo Y560 only rarely. Maybe once a month, because I have a 14 incher for everyday use and the 15.6 "Lenovo is in the closet until I have to copy something on CD again. Otherwise I do not need that. Do I have to change the thermal compound at some point or does it last forever if I only use it so little? It's just a shame because that's one with an Intel CPU i7 2nd generation and with 8 GB of RAM. Do I have to worry or just continue to use as before?

Lo

Just keep using it

You just have to swap it, as long as it becomes temperature-technically difficult. Old thermal grease dissipates the heat and the CPU gets warmer. As long as your PC does not overheat, no exchange is necessary.

Thank you!

Just keep using it, if it does not get too hot. If you do not stress the CPU at all, then it really does not matter how dry the thermal grease gets. But if you want to give this thing to someone else at some point or something, I would swap it or notify the person!
