Yesterday I got out my very old PC (think from 2008) and connected it to my new screen with DVI. Now, however, no sound is transmitted. When I connect my laptop with HDMI on the screen, however, sound comes on the screen. Do I have to buy boxes now or is it just on the DVI cable? For my new PC I would use DisplayPort!
Look what audio output the PC has (probably 3.5mm jack), and what audio input the monitor has, if there's one. Then you only need the right cable. DVI does not transmit sound, HDMI already
DVI does not transmit the same sound as VGA, you have to find another way, does your screen have a jack input?
DVI transmits only the digital image signal, no sound. There are no contacts vorgsehen in the plug. So not synonymous with an HDMI to DVI adapter. You measure the audio connection with an extra cable (3.5 jack to 3.5 jack)
But with HDMI and DisplayPort is synonymous with no boxes or? It's about the fact that I'm afraid that my new PC is ready and then there's no sound xd
Yes HDMI and DisplayPort transmit sound signals as long as your screen has speakers, but boxes are always better believe me, on Amazon there are good Logitech boxes for 20 euro and then you have much better sound quality.
