Tax laptop as a student?

Re

I just bought a used laptop from an official dealer for my studies (i.e. With an invoice).

Now I wanted to know whether you can deduct it from your family tax return if you make it with your parents?

If that works, where do you state it?

You could, if you pay ESt. Are you doing this

when you make a family tax return, i.e. With your parents?

What is that supposed to be?

Your advertising costs have now lost nothing in your parents' EStE. So if you didn't get taxable income in the year of purchase, you can't get anything back.

There's no tax return (in Germany) for the whole family. Your parents can be assessed together, but that's about it. You would have to make your own.

If the laptop is mainly used for studying, it would either be advertising costs or, if it is an initial training outside of an employment relationship, only special expenses. Since special expenses can't be carried forward, the expenses would only have an impact if your income (if you have any) is so high that it exceeds the basic allowance and you would otherwise have to pay taxes.

For later years as a so-called loss carryforward

But not in all cases

Not in initial training. Special editions can't be carried forward.

Yes, I meant that my parents are predisposed. Was formulated stupid. I have a 450 euro job, if that matters. Can my parents "take the laptop off the tax for me"?

And first of all thank you for the info! 🙂

Re

Since I do not pay any taxes and do not make my own tax return for a 450 euro part-time job, is it not possible to deduct it?

My parents are assessed together, was stupidly formulated. Sorry

Aw

No, if at all only you. The 450 EUR will probably be taxed at a flat rate (usually paid by the employer). That would be tax-free for you
