How can I transfer music from MacBook to iPhone?

I currently have an Apple laptop and am wondering how I can transfer music from McBook to iPhone.

sh

Mp3?

Gi

Yes how? More clearly please

Em

Either via iTunes (or now it's just "music") by connecting the iPhone and then synchronizing the music, if necessary also by albums, or via iCloud media library (must be activated in iTunes and on the iPhone).

In general, it helps to google, there are instructions from Apple, such as this one: https://support.apple.com/...6a1fab/mac

Ho

That is certainly possible with Apple's AirDrop, or not?

Lu

It is not made with music, but in the Finder.

Su

It's easy with AIRDROP

Lu

No.

Em

You are right - to save the honor: if you click on "Sync Settings" in the music app on the Mac and then land in the Finder. 😄

Since I use the iCloud media library, I have not yet used the individual synchronization of music in Apple's "new app world". It used to be in iTunes, so depending on the macOS version you can find it either in iTunes or in Finder.

(NB: It is also logical that music is not synchronized via the music app, but photos are exchanged via the photos app…)

Gi

How exactly? I need a step by step guide

Lu

Connect to MB, open Finder, select iPhone, Music tab, select, apply.

sh

How am I supposed to become clearer there? I ask you if they are mp3!

Gi

YES IT IS!

sh

Then send them via air drop or add them to your i tunes media library and synchronize as described in the other answers

sh

But they are mp3 files

Gi

Yes please? Explained really illogical.

sh

Choose files

on share

airdrop

Activate Bluetooth and AirDrop on both devices

and send! It is not that hard

Gi

Yes, but when I do that, the file only comes in the "files" app, but I want it in the "music" app, if you understand what I mean

sh

Then export the mp3 files to itunes (music) and synchronize like the others already explained

Gi

Sorry but how? I'm not a genius: /

sh

https://www.duckduckgo.com/ there you enter your question in the search bar (very cumbersome to explain)

Lu

No, not with music.

sh

Mp3 files are music / sound 😂

Lu

Just say?!

Lu

And they can't be transmitted via airdrop.

sh

Why not? I just made it 🧐

Lu

Yes, but. And where do you save them? Normally you would like to transfer many titles, e.g. With me Multiple playlists with up to hundreds of tracks and they have in the music app. And this has been done on Mac since Cataline with the Finder, previously iTunes, under Windows with iTunes.

Lu

Everything is synchronized with the Finder, including photos.

Lu

There are a lot of instructions on the net. Even - who would have thought - from Apple. D

https://support.apple.com/...6a1fab/mac

Em

If you let the photos sync automatically, then yes. If you just import individual (or all) photos from your phone to your computer, you can still use the photos application.

Therefore, I don't find it logical that if I don't want to synchronize the entire music library, but only want individual albums on the phone that can't be accessed via the music application.

Lu

No, either way it's all about the finder. Music, films, TV shows, podcasts, audio books, books, photos, files. The tabs are arranged in this order. Would it be stupid to sync everything via the Finder and the photos via the Photos app? I can't see how that should work either.

Em

I have just done it again especially for you:

Connect iPhone to Mac
Start photos on Mac
Select "iPhone" in the sidebar on the left
Admire the photos on your iPhone on the right
Select the one you want to import
If necessary, select from above whether just in the PhotoStream or in an extra album
Press "Import" to import the selected photos or "Import all new items" for… Well, as the name suggests.
Voila

And yes, I have the latest macOS.

Lu

OK. This is the way of photos from where to where?

sh

Then you would have to import everything into the media library! Saving in files is also possible

Lu

Then you would have to import everything into the media library!

Of course. That is the idea behind it.

Saving in files is also possible

That is. And then you search for songs in the files and play them one by one? Well jam why easy if it can be complicated. Who likes it… How it works: https://support.apple.com/...6a1fab/mac

Em

This is the way from iPhone to Mac. The opposite way goes - as you said - via the Finder. And I have nothing against that - I just think it's just illogical.

Especially since there's even a hint in the Finder

You can choose which photos are copied from your computer to your iPhone. Photos in the "Recordings" of your iPhone can be imported separately into "Photos" or "Digital Images".

Say: The Finder synchronizes albums from my computer (possibly also from photos!) To my iPhone, but the import to the Mac is not done by the Finder, but by the Photos application. Where's the logic?

When it comes to music, I'm not that petty, because usually you couldn't import music from iPhone to Mac (at least I've never seen it before), but always the other way around. In my opinion, this function would also be best in the music app, but be it.

Lu

This is the way from iPhone to Mac.

Exactly! And what was the question?

How can I transfer music from McBook to iPhone?

Em

Yes, and that's exactly what I answered in my answer, except that I accidentally wrote that instead of Finder, the music application was responsible.

But you claimed that EVERYTHING is synchronized via the Finder - including the photos. And that's just not true in my opinion, because in my view, synchronization would not only include the direction Mac → iPhone, but also the opposite way. And that is not the case, because the reverse is done separately using the procedure described above in the photos application.

Except, you have the iCloud photos on both systems. Incidentally, that would still be a way to achieve synchronization outside of the Finder.

But enough of the subtleties. It goes as described and done by both of us.

Lu

But you claimed that EVERYTHING is synchronized via the Finder - including the photos. And that's just not true in my opinion

Everything I want to transfer from Mac to iPhone goes through the Finder. Open it and look. If you just want to discuss to get out of hell somehow right somehow - without me, for me this is the end of the discussion.

Em

If you just want to argue to get out of hell somehow want to be right at some point

That's not the point. But since you obviously don't want to follow my argument - or even want to go into it at all remotely - I would like to join in: without myself, for me this is the end of the discussion.

(NB: In my second comment to this discussion, that's exactly what it says)

sh

Imagine he / she has activated cloud music and does not want to deactivate it
