For what? For gambling definitely laptop, for the road I would rather take a tablet.

A tablet is more "mobile", but a laptop just more versatile… And there are now really every size from tiny to huge. If you only want to use the device for surfing and chatting (etc), then you can also use a tablet - but if you really want to "work" with it, I would very much prefer a laptop.
