Can the computer suddenly crash on CPU?

We have a laptop, which lately goes out suddenly without warning, when I run certain programs with high demands (editing programs, games, etc.). I suspected that it might be due to the CPU because it is always at 100% just before the laptop runs out (I did a test with the Task Manager). My brother, however, says it's because of the battery, because the laptop makes the same noise when going out, as if its battery is empty.

Which of us is right and how do you fix this problem?

al

I would clock down the CPU and see if it still is.

Before:

I do not think that's because that's why the picture likes to freeze like many know it.

Just go out then it's more because of the battery, can it be that he gets too little power?

Ou

Actually, the CPU is rarely responsible for PC problems. At the most I can imagine that you have a temperature problem due to a broken fan or dirt (dust) and therefore switch off the CPU as soon as it reaches the critical temperature

Pe

Many firmware systems put the processor in Halt mode when overheated. This turns off the PC to prevent damage.
A tip: Install a program like HWMonitor and start the load-intensive program. HWMonitor tells you the temperatures of your PC. If you climb over 85 degrees, the PC is overheating…

Li

Take the thank you and the helpful back. HWMonitor is a virus.

Pe

What? Where did you download that?
Not here?

https://www.cpuid.com/softwares/hwmonitor.html

A virus is not that to my knowledge! Which DL link did you click on? Does SmartScreen show what?

Li

I googled hwmonitor and came to the official site, which is also called hwmonitor. Then I was shown by my antivirus program "The file (file name) contains a virus and has been deleted."

Pe

Was she perhaps misrecognized? For me that does not happen with Windows Defender. But you can also use a program like CoreTemp, but CPUID's HWMonitor is guaranteed not a virus (I use since 2013).

Li

Incidentally, the link you sent me includes one.

Pe

Are you serious? Which AV program do you have? If you want to verify that I'm telling the truth, just google "Show CPU Temperature". There's also HWMonitor. Otherwise, you can also get the program from Heise online, which will do AV scans before the release.

Li

I've already tried it at heise. Same message. PS: I use McAfee Internet Security

Pe

MacAfee… I can't ask you to disable the AV. But the program is not a virus. Not even adware. It is relatively high praised. If you want to try it again, take MSI Afterburner.

Ou

Then I would shoot this time on the moon. Something is called a false positive

Pe

Mac Afees AVs are really total garbage… Probably has n OEM installed.

Li

I could disable the virus and risk losing my computer. Or I just can't get the program because it's not the solution to the problem. I'm looking for a way to fix the crashes and not to let me know the temperature of the hardware.

Pe

Yes. But to fix the crashes, you should know why the CPU overheats - is also in the other questions. If you want to try something, open the laptop and get rid of all the dust.
