I don't have a DVD drive in my laptop. Because of this, I wanted to ask here first whether something like that is suitable for playing with playing on CD and whether it functions at all. I would be very happy to receive recommendations or an answer to the question whether it works.

I would not recommend playing directly over the drive unless you only want to play Point & Click. But with most games it is the case that you insert the CD into the drive, but you have to install the game on your internal hard drive (in the laptop) before playing
