Boot Windows on SSD?

Since I still have a PC that I want to use but I still want to install the operating system my question:

Does it fit if I give an SSD to a laptop then boot Windows 10 via USB stick and then put the SSD in my real PC?

Does that have any disadvantages or anything or can I do it quietly without having to think about it?

This has disadvantages, since other hardware is installed in the laptop.
