HD laptop does not open a DVD?

I've been trying to watch a movie with my laptop for days. Since I usually watch everything about Maxdome, I did not know the problem.

As soon as I put my film in my laptop it starts to make noises but nothing appears on my desktop. Even with my media player, I see nothing. That's the same with all the movies I've tried.

What can this be?

Do you have Windows 10 on the laptop? Then you have to install a software that plays DVDs because this is not standard on Windows 10 here. Good and free would be for example the VLC player.

This is simply because a DVD drive a BluRay can't read.
The drives are only backwards compatible, not upwards.

DVD is PS2 times, so to speak. CD would be PS1 times.

CD drive: Can read CDs
DVD drive: Can read CDs and DVDs
BluRay drive; Can read CDs, DVDs and BluRays.

You can look it up in the control panel. But as someone else has already stated, your problem is somewhere else. You can't play BluRays with a DVD drive.

Then you know now why it does not work. A DVD player does not play blue rays

On a Blu-ray drive / player or PlayStation. 🤷♂️

Some people do not know it better…

With an internal or external BluRay drive. A Playstation 3/4 or Xbox One (?). Or quite classic a BluRay player for the TV.
