Is a laptop (i7, 16gb ram) with a processor with 4 cores and a speed of 2.10 GHz too slow? I need a laptop with which I can animate well in After Effects and otherwise work with the other Adobe graphics programs.
This can't be answered clearly or meaningfully.
WHICH i7 it is… So from the model name…
moreover: does it have to be a laptop? With a desktop PC you have more power for less money and less problems
Which i7?
But almost no matter… 4 cores is quite weak for your project.
It is important that it is an H and not a U model.
You can completely fold the whole box for what you want to do with it.
I think my plans may be overestimated. So far I have been working on a laptop with an Intel Core i5-5257U CPU (2.70GHz, 2701 MHz, 2 cores, 4 logical processor). It was usually enough for my needs
The problem here is "still". The programs continue to evolve, and as more and more powerful hardware is available, developers are often no longer as optimistic about resource consumption. Therefore, you should maybe save yourself a few euro more on the edge and buy a more recent device.
So I assume that it is an older generation I7. The ram should be enough, but the processor could limit the amount of complex animations etc. It also depends on your graphics card.
