Still use WIndows 7 on my home computer, but I want to change now because soon there will be no security updates.
Now I'm considering if I should switch to Linux or Windows 10.
With Linux I already have a few experiences so switching would not be a big hurdle.
But I also use Windows 10 on my laptop for the university.
I'm therefore very undecided.
I have to say linux Mint - without compromise.
the community has done a lot of good things in the last few months (last year) and since then even implemented windows10 complete unix integration, there's really much overarching happening now.
Volcano support, WINE integration, etc, schnick, schnack.
check out a mint_live distro with the USB stick if you want, take the connamon desktop and "nice";)
I would definitely recommend GNU / Linux. Safe, high-performance, free, diverse, great package management, no stress with updates, stable, reliable. What more do you want?
At least you get on an activated Windows7 still your Windows10 for free. Have only recently a computer from Windows7 to Windows10 with a clean reinstallation and without entering a serial number in the setup to an activated Windows10 helped.
So Windows10 via the Media Creation Tool downloaded from Microsoft, and with the thus created stick the computer started. When asked whether update or user selected the latter, then deleted all partitions on the hard drive. Then the setup continues. As the question of the serial number comes on "I have no" clicked. When the setup was finished, in the Explorer on "this PC" right-click and clicked Properties - after a few seconds came the message: Windows is activated. This gives you a permanent Windows 10 license.
Already have linux on it but never really tried because I always end up for convenience since I know win already know accessed
Just check out cinnamon desktop with Mint. That's like a delicious mojito
