WLAN on the laptop works, but not on the cell phone?

On the laptop I have full Wi-Fi signal but on the cell phone it shows that the signal is too weak. But this has only been the case for 2-3 days. In between my cell phone connects but then the connection is too weak again. Is there anything i can do? Unfortunately I have no idea about routers etc.

would be grateful for help, lg

First off, I would check if the signal gets better when you get close to the router. If the router is far away and there are possibly several walls in between, it can be difficult.

It can be because of the router as well as the cell phone; I tend to type on the cell phone if you have good reception with the computer.

Sometimes a restart helps (unfortunately rarely with such symptoms), but maybe just disconnect the router from the power for about 1 minute and restart the mobile phone.

Such problems have physical reasons.
On the one hand, of course, the WLAN module including antenna could be a mess - or it could simply be of insufficient quality.

On the other hand, the situation in the ISM band is constantly changing.
It can also be due to a changed radio situation.

Addition: A channel change in the WLAN could help. To do this, you have to go to the browser-based user interface of the router. How this works in detail depends on the router model. But there's actually a suitable manual for everything on the net.

Personally, however, I would rather suspect the error on the cell phone. Possibly. A restart also helps here.

You probably have a dual-band WLAN router (2.4 + 5 GHz simultaneously)? If so, then it could be due to poorly working band steering. This is the automatic change from 2.4 GHz WLAN to 5 GHz WLAN, which the WLAN router initiates.

Here explained by AVM: https://avm.de/...-steering/

You can set / turn off the band steering on the configuration page of the router by giving the 5 GHz WLAN a different name (SSID). Finished!

PS:

Configuration page of the router? Open the browser and enter the router's web address (it is on the bottom of the router, sticker http: \\… Or 192.168…).

You will then see 2 Wi-Fi networks and you can connect specifically to 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz, and it will then no longer switch independently. Try it out if it's better.

PPS: Could also be due to Bluetooth, turn off Bluetooth.

It's definitely worth a try. 👍
Even if that helps more with typical connection interruptions and less when the wireless network is not recognized or is there.
But before I wanted to buy something new: Definitely try it out.
