It's about that my laptop has a 1.4 HDMI output but I would like to transfer 4k with 60hz, but since the output only takes 4k with 30hz I would like to know if I could not simply connect an HDMI 1.4 → Display Port 1.2 adapter then transfer 4k 60hz?
You can get an adapter, but that doesn't help. The overall system is only as fast as the slowest component.
No, because the HDMI interface is not as fast as a display port.
Therefore you can only transmit 30Hz via HDMI and not 60Hz.
Mechanically you can adapt it and also adjust the signal electrically so that the lower display port modes work. But with a DisplayPort-HDMI adapter you can still only use the modes that your HDMI supports.
That will not do. You still have the HDMI output as a limiting factor, even if you use an adapter.
