The family of my girlfriend and I want to give her a laptop for her birthday, because she is now studying and needs a new laptop for it. Unfortunately, I know my hardware and software absolutely not from. My only criteria would be this:
- the laptop should not cost over 500 euro
- It should be a comparatively "good" laptop with enough space, performance, etc.
- It would be good if the laptop was rather small than big because it is so much easier to transport by bus and train
Maybe there are some of you who are still studying or have already studied and can give me some good recommendations. If you need more information for a good recommendation just ask.
I would choose a 14 or 15 inch device, it's better to carry it with you if you do not drive to the door with your own car.
otherwise SSD hard drive with 256GB, 8GB RAM and an i5 processor as minimum requirements would be my recommendation.
Alright, at least I have some guidelines.

256GB SSD

128GB SSD + 1TB HDD
No problem
if in doubt, take a smaller SSD disk rather than a large HDD disk. Especially for the frequent hauling back and forth, SSD is much better
Is a touch screen necessary or not? If the scripts are only available online in the university, then I strongly recommend a model with touch screen. Then 500 euro are not exactly abundant, but sufficient. I personally use the "Asus Vivo Book Flip 14" with i3 for the university. The laptop is very cheap, but more than enough, even with multitasking.
