But I doubt that it can generate three monitors, because the source on the notebook remains so HDMI, which in contrast to DisplayPort 1.2 (or higher) only one monitor allows.

I had to learn that first, but I connected two monitors on several PC Displayport and a Displayport Hub and extended the desktop via two monitors. It is now possible to move applications between the monitors or extend them to both monitors. In applications like Photoshop, you can work on one screen and put the tools on the second. With background images for two-monitor systems, beautiful panoramas now appear as background.
Only on a PC, the graphics card had to be replaced, they had only the old Displayport 1.1 and was thus unable to provide the monitors with independent content.
