Win 10 and 7 in a network?

Since Win10 has not had a function for quite some time to create a homegroup, I have googled a bit and came across that you should now use workgroups again. Well, the explanations and videos that are there - I understand only station. The goal is to network a Win10 laptop and a Win7 PC via Wi-Fi. What do I do best? Step-by-step instructions required.

Maybe someone has a link to a great video that I have not found myself yet?

Want to connect your Windoof 10 and Windows 7 together with the W-LAN, or how now?

How exactly do you want to network them and what do you expect from them?

Ju

Yes he wants

Gu

Exactly. Is yes in the question.

Gu

What exactly is called? If I knew that, I would not ask the question. I used to be able to network the computers with each other via the homegroup without problems. Now there's no homegroup more…

St

What do you mean by networking… What do you want to do? Exchange files?

Gu

Ja exactly… Sorry, did I express myself so unintelligibly?

St

Yes, because networking can be anything - starting with "both computers are on the same network"

Take a look at the file sharing

I would recommend you to abolish Win7 slowly, because there will be no support for next year in January. That means no security updates, which in turn is a nice target for hackers.

If I did not understand the question completely wrong that is far no problem. You release one share on one and use it on the other. Can you do it out of Explorer.

It is helpful to give your server instance a fixed IP address. Dynamically, but that requires more effort.

Since I have a few more computers, I use a NAS as a central platform. It all docks on the Linux computer via Win7 / 10, yes, even a few firewall separated XP computers that I use for testing.
