Best laptop for writing?

Moin, Moin people.

Since my current laptop is partly out of date, especially the software, I would like to get a new one.

And that's why I ask you what is the best laptop at a good price and good quality for writing texts and novels, and other maybe graphic things.

We

It depends.

For example, I'm someone who needs harder key resistance, but there are also some who react to the slightest touch.

Re

To just hammer letters into the box without the box of update here, virus update there, backup now, etc. Annoying, a Chromebook is the best choice.

Mostly in the classic way at a desk or on the sofa.

Kr

On the sofa, on your knees?

Ro

Yes

Then it is also full of dust, I recommend you buy a notebook cushion, but watch out for the power supply cable. You could also buy a fanless notebook

Ro

Ok, what are you writing with?

Ro

Yes, I just noticed myself that I'm more of a person who needs a harder key resistance. What are you using

Kr

I once picked out one for you that might come into question: https://geizhals.at/acer-swift-1-sf114-33-p0qb-silber-nx-hysev-003-a2388003.html?hloc=at&hloc=de&hloc=eu&hloc=pl&hloc=uk my laptop will soon be 7 years old, i have no money for something decent ^^

Before buying a new one, I would first try to install a Linux distribution on the old laptop. For example Linux Mint Xfce. This only requires half as much system resources as Windows.

Here is the download: http://mirrors.evowise.com/linuxmint/stable/20/linuxmint-20-xfce-64bit.iso

Then write the ISO to an empty formatted USB stick with Rufus https://rufus.ie/. If you can't boot from USB you have to burn the ISO to an empty DVD with this tool http://www.freeisoburner.com/.

Then boot the stick or DVD and follow the instructions of the installer. It offers the possibility to delete everything. To do this, select the option "Erase hard drive and install Linux Mint". I recommend doing a full installation. The WLAN and the hardware are set up at the same time.

The latest Firefox, Libreoffice, multimedia components and tools are also installed. A restart takes place after the installation is complete. When the desktop appears, the update manager appears at the bottom right next to the clock. These updates should be installed immediately. The update manager not only takes care of the system, but also of the installed programs. Unlike Windows, you don't have to update every single program.

Linux Mint Xfce goes off like a rocket. You notice the difference in speed immediately. Windows, on the other hand, is a lame duck.

This is what the Linux Mint Xfce desktop looks like:

There's also a start menu there. The only difference is that it is divided into categories. That makes the whole thing clearer. The taskbar with clock, volume, network / WLAN also looks familiar.

P.S. Skype and Spotify are also available for Linux.

Preferably any old Thinkpad or MacBook. In principle, software doesn't matter. A word processor runs on every computer.

We

I have a gaming PC…

One from Acer (predator)

It has a relatively hard resistance but is also relatively expensive.
