Toshiba hard drive (NEW) is detected internally, external with adapter not, what to do?

MSI GE60 2PC Apache (all up to date, win7)

as already described have a brand new toshiba 2tb pcl200, wanted to replace my 1tb in the laptop and therefore logically, first clone my current 1tb plate on the 2tb, so now I plug in the adapter and connect it via usb, hear the noise but it was already… It is displayed neither in the device manager, disk management, bios, windows partiotions manager, or anywhere else, broken is nothing! The usb ports, as well as the adapter work with all other hard drives synonymous a 3.5 inch 2tb, flawless! Only now with the brand new 2tb there are these problems, if I make them normal in the laptop so internally, it seems as if it is recognized normal and goes, but I bring relatively little, since I have to clone my old plate on it, what can I do now that it is displayed to me or could the "new" hard drive have a defect? Because internally it seems so yes and is displayed, only external does not stop…

Does the adapter have its own power supply (except USB)?

If not, this could possibly be the cause.

Why do not you do it the other way around? New disk into the notebook and clone from the old (external). That works too.

br

Maybe the power supply. Are you on USB 2.0 or 3.0?

It may be that the voltage of the USB 2.0 is not sufficient.

Adapter with extra power supply and what kind of USB?

se

Is usb3.0 and adapter has of course external power supply ^^ "

se

Adapter has of course external power supply ^^ "

se

And I would like to do it around but also wants to know where the error lies and fix it, to make mistakes around it can work any "but if I later want to take the plate as external times, I can forget it, so I want the fix errors, understandably I think: -D

se

Oh yeah, what I've already done is booted by usb stick and ne partition created (as the hard drive was installed internally short), but still it recognizes the pc nowhere

mo

The power supply should be the problem. A USB-2 port has to run 500mA power, as the manufacturers take but not quite so literally. A HUP with e.g. 4 ports, which has no additional power supply, would then have to get over the input USB port 2A. How does it work?

Maybe you have luck with a USB 3 port (if that exists).
I've cut a USB cable to solve this problem. Not quite, just cut the red wire. I then connected the end to the plate with + 5V of a 5V charger. The other wire from the charger will then come to the black wire of the USB cable (remove a piece of insulation and pinch it).

br

Sure the HDD is 100% ok? Hang the "old" HDD on the USB port and plug the new HDD into the SATA of the notebook and then start your Windows from the USB port.

se

Yes that's exactly what I want to find out unterandrem ;-D not that she has ne mack, but internally it works in the laptop, just stop externally with adapter, it will not appear, but old hdd turn on and boot by usb, is a good idea XD I thought of it garnet, I think that works like that, but I would still rather fix the problem first, because it must somehow work, they also use externally, if I use them internally only internally, but should I later Sometime external need I have the same game again "

se

The adapter has its own power supply, so electricity is no problem ^^ "

Ca

Well… Is weekend… If you have too much time, look for the mistake. 😉

I stick with the adapter / disk combination as a cause and would prefer a quick fix. Some mistakes do not always open up to you. But often there's an alternative. 😊

I already had similar mistakes. And there it was also on the adapter in station wagon with a special HDD, which was demonstrably not defective. Because in another adapter with a different chipset it worked without problems externally.

se

Hmm… Most of the time you find the mistake and then you think ööwhttp://www… So easy xD and I prefer to eradicate the error, especially since I also want to make sure that the "new" hard drive, also really 100% okay and as I said I build later then a 3tb and wants to use the 2tb externally, I stand again before the same problem

se

And my adapter already had some different disks on it, that's the only one that has not been shown so far ^^ "Of course it can really be that" special "makes these problems, but maybe the hard drive has something gone, that's it to find out "

Ca

Install and check… What are you doing for so long to get them to work externally?

If it shows no errors internally, it will probably be the adapter.

Ca

We already had the tip… 😉

Ever heard of solution-oriented work? 😁😉

se

Toshiba 1tb (thus the old hdd) is recognized also immediately & drivers installed ^^ "I doubt strongly that it is the adapter, since each really any hard disk no matter which and also the same brand works ^^"

Ca

I give up…

Apparently you do not want any help. And I do not like to repeat myself.

Take it or leave it… 😉

se

My question was here yes, how do I fix the problem, not how I handle it xD so you do not learn anything about it, I know the same thing I do and I know if I just wanted to work around the problem, would be done quickly, but me want to solve the problem ^^

se

If all disks run, and one only runs internally, I have to think about it, send them back "if I can solve the problem but and the hard disk is 100% okay, I can keep it calmly…

Ca

Since it can have so many causes, there will be no general solution. Therefore, I have given you tips on how you can narrow down the problem and reported that I once had a similar phenomenon. 😉

Ca

You could possibly exclude that if you had an identical disk that works in the adapter. Only the same manufacturer does not say anything because the chipset, firmware and disk are completely different.
