And while my parents got a new laptop at Christmas and how is this as a son you have to set it up now. So I removed the old SSD from your old laptop and into the new one. There, the hard drive is recognized as SSD but not as bootable, although it boots easily in Win10 in the old.
How can this be and how can this be remedied.
Old system
AMD Athlon x2
4GB RAM
New system
Intel i5 7200U
Nvidia Geforce 940MX
8GB RAM
Said hard disk
Crucial MX500 512GB
Maybe the new bios is Uefi and expects a uefi capable bootsector. In bios let's see if you can switch to legacy.
Generally, you should not hard drives on which the operating system is already installed, 1: 1 transferred to new PCs, which brings only trouble with drivers and programs.
Backup and reinstall Windows would be the best way.
I had just done before the answer came. Worked. Nevertheless, thank you and happy holidays.
I made it to Legacy by switching from UEFi to jab and installing the latest driver for the new laptop, it's going great, I can't complain.
