I have an older laptop at home where I bought used 3 years ago. Windows 7 was already on it. Now windows 7 is out of date. Do I get windows 10 up somehow?
Trying to upgrade to Win 10?
https://www.microsoft.com/.../windows10
It's still free. https://www.computerbild.de/...48619.html
Do you also install the latest engine in your car when a new one comes out?
It is best to carry out a clean installation in any case → save old, still required data and then flatten. If you do not have it yet, it would be a good idea to install an SSD as this will also push older devices properly.
If Win10 asks for the key, just enter the key from 7, so far it worked everywhere.
Sorry I don't have a car. But what does the comparison have to do with Windows 7?
Windows 7 no longer updates
If I could… At least it would be worth it.
Quite a few people are now startled by the endless reports that Win7 is now as dangerous as a bomb and want to switch to 10 …
And many then realize that umpteen things no longer work, whether because of old hardware or because the installed programs are not suitable for Win10, because additional devices do not have Win10 drivers. Or the computer a… Slow.
help against dangerous bombs (a) prudence (e.g. For mails with attachments) as well as proper virus scanners & trojan detectors.
So much opinion, so little idea ¯ \ _ (ツ) _ / ¯
Classic virus scanners today recognize a maximum of 30% of the defective software, if the malware then "mutates", it looks very bad. There are 100th evasion techniques against antivirus, you can use the "best" product and it will bring you nothing if in doubt.
You can also give yourself your prudence, as it is sufficient if a large page (through advertising or a hack of an integrated page) embeds malicious code. Then it attacks your browser without you even noticing. You can only "escape" this if you activate hard script blockers and stick to them 100%.
It borders on negligence to go online with a system that the manufacturer no longer provides with current updates. If you do online banking, you are even obliged to use an up-to-date system, otherwise you will remain on your damage in the event of a damage.
That may not matter to you because you are perfect and of course you know Windows much better than all hackers and security experts in the world, but don't write such a dangerous half-knowledge here…
People like you are the reason why botnets are spreading so quickly.
Lol… A troll panic maker who lumps everything together. But he immediately comes out through the level-less assumptions and hypocritical statistics
Apart from what I think of your comment now (not reproducible here…), this is exactly the scaremongering I was talking about. With a little Brain.exe, a somewhat older system can still be used for a few years. If a new computer is due at some point, the topic will be done. A current virus scanner and prudence and you have no problems.
If you hang around on some dubious sites for "found" software and films, this can of course quickly lead to problems. The inclined home user with a little Google, YouTube, possibly banking and office will have no problems.
ALARM… Did you chop my brain? Because without saying it, you could read my mind:-) I probably have to give my brain a new operating system:-)
Rather think that my pear is so screwed up that everything is too late ^^
This is more likely to run under "2 people who have a clue";)
Upgrading from Windows 7 to Windows 10 is still free. https://www.chip.de/...05018.html
Perform a Win10 upgrade that will keep your files, settings, and installed programs.
If you have an external hard drive, I would still save the data as a precaution.
How to do it, see:
Important:
Charge the battery fully beforehand and connect the power supply as a precaution. As a precaution, uninstall your virus protection program.
Also make sure that the laptop is connected to the Internet via LAN.
