Why doesn't this USB cable fit in this printer?

The printer is an EPSON XP-445. What cable do I need to connect my laptop to this printer instead? Thanks in advance! 🙏

You have the wrong end of the USB cable. Search Google for the connector types (male, female) and you may have the wrong USB type. Search for USB types (USB-A, USB-B, USB-C, …)

Why should it? You need a USB2-A to USB2-B (both male).

What you have is USB2-A (male) to USB2-A (female)

Most printers have a sogn. USB-B socket, with an almost square base and 2 rounded corners on one side. That is why some cables are sometimes called 'printer cables'.

You need a cable to USB 2 type B (from USB type A), what you have there's a USB extension cable (USB type A (plug) to USB type A socket).
