What is / does a hardware decoder bring?

What's the point Should I turn this on (for an application on my laptop).

It depends on what is being decoded. Is it a film format? The hardware decoding then saves computing time and conserves the battery when playing films.

This means that this program uses your graphics card instead of the processor. However, this consumes more power because the graphics card has to clock higher. So I would advise you to enable this feature if you have problems with a slow UI. However, if all is well as it is now, I would leave it.

PS: Hardware decoding for films can still save battery power, since the processor does not have to switch to boost for this.

It is one of those. Webcam app that I downloaded on my PC and cell phone so that I can use the cell phone as a webcam, so to speak. (works via Wi-Fi).

Thanks, yes, my graphics card is pretty bad and I only have 2.5GB of RAM. So I leave that out. 😅 🤔

Then, as I said, the hardware coding conserves the cell phone's battery - if it works. Try it. If it doesn't work, turn them off.

Ge

And how is it with the laptop? 🤔

pi

Just like that.

Then I would rather activate it because the graphics memory then falls on the card and not on the memory
