I've had internet problems for a week. There are always such short dropouts (lags).
I've changed rooms for about a month. I'm now on the 2nd floor and my internet router is in the basement. But I have a small Devolo DLAN 500 AV in my room. I'm not very familiar with technology and the Internet, etc. But I have a LAN cable connected to my laptop.
There are always short dropouts for 1-5 seconds. It often hangs when making calls. E.g. In Discord or Skype or Zoom. It also happens in teams. I don't hear the teacher like that for a few seconds. I've already bought new LAN cables but to no avail.
The problem could be with https://de.wikipedia.org/...i/PowerLAN. Transmission over the power line (also called PowerLAN) can result in disconnections over long distances.
I once worked with PowerLAN in a residential building, but only had problems. It was an older house with very old power lines that weren't really shielded. Due to different circuits (main fuses), the PowerLAN repeaters could not be used everywhere and there were frequent breaks or a slow connection.
To rule that out, you could try the connection in a different location. For example, connect the repeater to a socket in the basement (near the router) and see whether it works better there. If so, the above could be the reason.
Of course, it could also be due to the line that comes into your house. There's not much you can do then than contact the provider. In the settings of the router you can often see how the connection is from outside and use it to estimate whether that could be a reason.
Ultimately, a LAN connection directly to the router is always the best. Without repeaters or intermediate devices. Wi-Fi is also good if the distance is not too far. However, there are also many positive reports about PowerLAN, so I don't want to blame it exclusively.
