Leave notebook on the power?

Can I safely leave a notebook permanently on power or does it damage the battery? Or is this no longer a problem for today's batteries?

I would take the battery out in your place, so I always did it, because the battery doesn't do it well 🙂

Before many puss now, yes it switches off at 1oo%, I played it safe and took it out.

In my experience, if you keep your notebook running on the power at some point, it will be at the expense of the battery. The runtime and reliability is significantly less…

Depends on the notebook. Older ones damage the battery over the long term, modern ones only charge up to 70%, which hardly hurts.

So mine has been on the power since 2016 and still have 95% capacity

Is a brand new Lenovo Legion Y740. What do you think only loads up to 70%? If I hook it up to the electricity, does it charge up to 100%?

Sc

OK thanks. How do you know it's still 95%?

I don't know how that works. I had it with my last one, my new one no longer does it (the old one was also a Lenovo). You can just test it when you load. Only when the battery is fully charged and if you then do not disconnect it, the battery consumes electricity until it reaches 70% and then stays there.
