My Firefox (as well as my notebook) in general has serious problems, is quite slow, hangs often, 100% disk usage also occurs frequently.
In any case, I "cleaned up" my Firefox.
You can also tell that it runs much more smoothly.
Only problem:
when I go to about: logins, there are no more passwords in there!
Before cleaning, it said that passwords would be retained but now they are gone:-(
Since I had feared something like that, I made a backup before cleaning up the complete (!) Firefox folder, that is: literally copied the complete Firefox folder to another location.
But how do I get the passwords from the old profiles and back into my current Firefox?
Unfortunately, I don't even know which of the old 4 profiles I was actively using.
What do I have to copy or something so that the passwords are there again?
You should recognize the most recently used profile by the most recent modification date of the folder, if this is still visible and has not been replaced by today's date for every folder. Or you can sort the files in the folders by date and see which ones were recently accessed / changed.
You need the following two files from the profile folder:
key4
logins.json
Then simply drag these two files from the backup into your current profile. Of course, close Firefox beforehand.
And if that doesn't work out with the date, then you can find out quickly which folder is the right one. After you've dragged the files over for the first time, you'll check your passwords. And if you think something is still wrong, do the same thing again with one of the other backed up folders.
So just replace the key4 and logins.json with the old ones?
Would have to see which profile is the right one, somehow in all profiles the key4 is 288 bytes or something like that: - /
Exactly, drag the two files into your current profile. It's quick and easy to check all profiles in case the first one is not the right one ^^
Worked!
Unfortunately, firefox has somehow become a bit slower again due to the 1270 passwords: - /
I can't imagine that that's because of the passwords ^^ But maybe you can just muck out there. I'm also surprised that so many passwords have been saved there.
Oh, it happens. In almost 10 years, a lot has been accumulating:-)
Hm, just after adding again from the tampermonkey addon all the scripts that I had in there are gone: - /
Do you have a good idea how I can find it again quickly and easily?
I can't tell you spontaneously. Would you have to google whether the data was not saved somewhere in the profile folder. I assume that the data is not saved online. Maybe copy the appropriate file from the extensions folder. Now would be my idea.
