Can my laptop with HDMI 1.4 operate a monitor with 1440p and 144Hz?

Have a laptop that I would like to connect to an external monitor. Unfortunately, the laptop only has HDMI 1.4 and therefore I wonder whether it is even possible to use it to feed my external monitor (1440p, 144Hz).
