I bought an old laptop with Win XP now I wanted to ask if it would be dangerous to go to sites like YouTube or other trustworthy sites? Lg
Actually, not only Windows XP has not had any security updates since 2012, which makes it risky to use, I would recommend a PC with Windows 10
I have but would like to know how it is to browse an old laptop
Actually, I'm of the opinion that one should no longer go online with such old devices that are no longer supported.
But if you do not save passwords on the device using online banking, Google or other accounts. And if you also install the latest security software, then not much can actually happen.
The problem you may have is that XP may not be supported by any current browser and many websites will show you errors.
There's also another problem: Current web browser versions do not run under Windows XP and older web browser versions can't display the web pages correctly.
Would you e.g. Install a resource-saving Linux distribution on this laptop (e.g. Bodhi Linux), then you have the option again e.g. Use the latest Firefox. Then it works without any problems. Bodhi Linux also contains the extremely resource-saving web browser Midori, which can also display current websites without any problems.
If you want Bodhi Linux, here is the download: https://www.bodhilinux.com/ You need the legacy release. After downloading the ISO you have to burn it with this tool http://www.freeisoburner.com/ onto an empty CD. Then boot the burned CD. Here is an instruction video on how to install it:
