Which laptop for image editing, 3D animation and video editing?

The basic requirement is that the RAM is by no means permanently installed! I have absolutely no desire to buy a laptop for around 1,500 euro with 16 GB of RAM, which I can't upgrade to 32 GB after a few years. It would also be good if the case was not made of cheap plastic.

Va

Most modern laptops are very compact and there's little in the price range with expandable ram. Why not a desktop for your requirements?

Ba

Because I really want to be mobile with it.

Bi

Aloha!

So in your budget of 1,500 euro, I can only recommend the MacBook Pro M1, alternatively the MacBook Air M1. I fully agree that it is absolutely unfavorable that the RAM can't be exchanged or upgraded, but 16 GB is LOCKER enough, even in many years. The RAM is not exchangeable for nothing. This is integrated in the chip and is therefore significantly more efficient and better. It is more comparable to 32 GB at Intel. 8 GB is also really good with the M1 chip.

With Windows you won't really get a lot of performance for 1,500 euro, and your standards aren't low either.

Use an Omen by HP 17-CB0247 with an Intel Core I7 8750H and a GTX 1060 with 16GB RAM, which is also expandable. So far I haven't had any problems with it, even after almost 2 years.

This still costs just under 1200 euro today

Sl

So if you think an Intel Core I7 9750H and 1660ti with 16GB RAM for just under 1100 euro is not very powerful, but it doesn't matter…

Bi

The M1 then has a lot more power. But if you insist on Windows, that's of course an option.

Sl

Yes, well, assuming Apple is of course now, but this is why Windows is asked

Ar

For the performance you want, you can either buy something properly now or something new every 2 years that is "half-baked" but not so expensive. Since he has been mentioned before, I just picked out a Pavilion. Their housings are very high quality, they have 1 m.2 slot (or even 2?) And 1x 2.5 "(so enough space to retrofit mass storage devices) and can be RAM-technically inflated to up to 64GB. https://www.notebooksbilliger.de/...4ng+677152

Ar

With those things the whole memory is soldered funny again?

Ba

Thanks for the tip! In terms of the technical requirements, that fits pretty well. However, the laptop should appeal to me optically at the price. Unfortunately, I find this "spacey" design of some gaming laptops really horrible!

Va

Doesn't it say anything about Windows?

Sl

Not? I somehow understood from it -.

Sl

The design is actually pretty okay… The housing is mostly made of brushed aluminum and the back cover of the screen is partly made of carbon and plastic. I actually think that's pretty high quality, but it's your decision.

Va

Yes, however, there's no competition in terms of performance
