Laptop repair takes way too long?

On December 12th, I took my laptop to a service center with a broken screen. A good price, but also many positive reviews were good arguments for me to choose it.

When it wasn't finished shortly before Christmas, I wasn't surprised. I just asked once and was told "early January" as an assessment.

It's the 20th now. And I still have no idea what's going on with my laptop. I reported there a few days ago and was put off again for 2-3 weeks.

As the main reasons for the delay, the gentleman named the "rare display model" and of course Corona (🤔🤔😑), because it is such a high-quality laptop (Predator Helios 300) …

I have to say that I have no experience with such services. A friend of mine claims that the guy would only hold me up while he was actually waiting for some cheap screen from China (since it is much more likely that parts are not available or the like, in contrast to proven partners who normally offer such a serious service should have)

I'm a calm person and do not want to stress unnecessarily. What do you think, could what he says still make sense or should I call everything back as soon as possible and, if necessary, call in the police, if he refuses to give me the deposit, for example?

I'm sorry it got so much and

I know that in Germany (not a manufacturer) you can't get it, until the ship is here, it takes.

It should also be available.

Car lines also stand still because chips are missing.
