IPad Pro for study (industrial engineering)?

I'm starting my bachelor's degree next month after graduating from FH. Since I do not have a good PC / laptop, I would like to buy something new. I came across 2-in-1 convertibles, which I find very useful (especially through study content such as math and physics, in which you also have to draw drawings and diagrams). Does an iPad Pro meet all the necessary requirements and can I carry out all the programs I need, or is it rather a surface or another (vlt cheaper) alternative better / sufficient? Or do I necessarily need a desktop PC / laptop because of the performance / programs?

Wa

With the Surface you can run all desktop programs to work. If you need tablet apps, you can emulate Android with Bluestacks.

An iPad Pro is really extremely practical in the university for copying.

However, you can only use apps from the store on an iPad. So if you want to get a CAD program or whatever running, then you can't get around a Windows machine.

I would, if you like to write digitally want to get the iPad, if it is necessary then you can still buy a cheap laptop.

Edit: On the subject of alternatives: There are really many, for example, the convertibles of Lenovo, for example, a Thinkpad. They are absolutely top. But if you prefer working with it or an iPad, everyone has to know for yourself. Some like the operation of an iPad more, others are just more flexible and use a 2: 1 notebook.

Thanks in advance! So a solution from iPad Pro + ~ 500 euro laptop would be more than adequate?

Th

In my opinion, yes! As long as you do not want to use a very demanding program during your studies, a laptop up to 500 euro is absolutely sufficient. In the beginning the iPad will suffice.

Alternatively, as I said, for example, a Thinkpad as a convertible, but also cost around 1000 euro. Are synonymous cheaper alternatives, but I have yet to collect any experience, whether there's the pen input, etc. Well works.

Both have their purposes. I usually recommend: if you already have a PC or you do not mind on the PC, which are provided by the university to work, an iPad is the better choice. If you absolutely need a laptop, a Surface is better.

Advantages of the iPad:

Significantly more compact and portable, more than enough power for all programs that are available (already alone because of the ARM adapted apps which usually run much better than counterparts running on x64 (normal PC processors)), much better than writing pad replacement or PDFs Edit (the programs are better on touch optimized and there's a better selection of writing programs, a tablet is generally more suitable for writing than a convertible), also better for media consumption and gaming, compared to a current Surface Pro cheaper.

Advantages of Surface:

You have a different program selection with programs that you possibly need for your studies (eg programs for programming and simulating are much more sophisticated on the PC), you have many convertibles a full-fledged keyboard installed and more connections. Also you have there full Windows (or Linux etc.).

I would put it this way: A convertible completely replaces a PC but is only a half-good tablet. An iPad is a full-fledged tablet and can partially replace a PC.

So it all depends on: Do you put more emphasis on writing and taking notes and media consumption and have access to complex programs for a PC: iPad. Do not you have access to a PC: Convertible.

For Convertibles I would recommend a Surface. This is the best way to implement the whole concept.
