My parents have a laptop and I borrowed this past Friday to play Sims 4 with a friend. There we downloaded a mod from the Internet, but everything should have been safe because we saw a lot of YouTube videos so we could make sure it wasn't a virus. Then we downloaded the mod but deleted it because it had somehow not worked with Sims 4. Then I shut down the laptop as normal and today my stepfather wanted to boot up the laptop and called me directly because there are any screen errors with the laptop, so there are green and pink dots and when you log in and go to the internet, for example, the app opens 3 times and everything is pink and green.
But I also have to say that the laptop is already 6 years old and has made such strange noises before but still worked perfectly. Do you think that's because of this mod or just a stupid coincidence? I feel really bad because when I say this to my parents they think it is because of it
That sounds like graphic errors and not like viruses.
but it can be the measles virus, which makes red rash, or red dots.
It has nothing to do with it.
This will be more of a problem with the graphics card chip
If everything is pink and green (image artifacts), the graphics card is probably defective. If the notebook has a dedicated one, it is the memory of this.
With an IGP, the Cpu is defective
The error almost certainly does not come from the mod, rather sounds like a hardware defect. The graphics chip, display panel or mainboard may be defective, for various reasons.
However, you shouldn't have a bad conscience, devices sometimes break, especially laptops.
