I want to set it up again because of a virus and would like to briefly ask you for help because I don't know how to remove the current Windows 10. I already moved the new Windows 10 from another laptop to the 64GB 3.0 USB stick. Can I now simply plug the USB stick into my current PC and boot from it, so the old or currently active Windows 10 with all apps etc. Will be deleted or how is that?
Windows Key> Settings> Update & Security> Recovery> Reset PC
Yes, but if it has a virus, it could also be that it infiltrated Windows.
Stick in, select USB port as boot sequence, restart, select reinstall, select existing partition (HDD), ideally format beforehand, drink coffee
"I already moved the new Windows 10 from another laptop to the 64GB 3.0 USB stick."
That alone is not enough to reinstall WINDOWS from a USB stick.
Forget about "resetting" a virus, it will drag itself along with you, depending on which virus it is
Ok thanks so the windows defender could not remove the virus see my last question but now it says after 7 scans that it is gone. Is that correct? Or is the virus hiding, so to speak, so that it can no longer be found?
What do I still have to do
Use an online scanner. Viruses can, for example, "hide" in packed files
Did you have the stick prepared using the MediaCreationTool?
Only then is it guaranteed that Win10 can be installed properly
You start the PC and press F8 or F12 to get into the boot menu, select the stick there and then follow the instructions
When selecting the hard disk: DELETE ALL partitions and then simply press "next" at the bottom right and then it runs
Yes I made the MediaCreationTool on it
See answer from
Putting it on the stick does not bring anything, you have to let the MCT prepare the stick and that then puts the installation protocol on the stick
How does the preparation work? Sry don't know about me
Download MCT to the hard drive from MS, then start the program and follow the instructions
But that's how I did it. I started it on the laptop and selected that I want to install with USB
Yes, then say that
If someone writes "I put the MCT on the stick", it usually means that they simply copied the tool onto the stick and then wants to install it with it
Then proceed as I already wrote and what is important: delete ALL partitions during the installation and then simply press "continue", the rest of the installation will then take care of itself
AND more importantly: get yourself a good and smart SecuritySuite
And I hope for you that you have a clean backup of your files
Note beforehand:
If your laptop has a boot menu (see your user manual), start the installation with it. - If you do not have a boot menu, you have to put the USB stick (drive) in front of the HDD for the Win installation in the UEFI / BIOS in the boot sequence.
Before you start the installation, fully charge the battery and leave the power adapter connected until the installation is complete.
Make sure that the laptop is connected to the Internet via LAN if possible during the Win10 installation. - The installation program will then automatically download and install the required device drivers.
Using the installation stick, delete all partitions on the hard drive, as shown in the video from minutes 4:50 to 6:30.
The deleted partitions are merged into an "Unallocated space".
To install:
Select this "Unallocated space"> click on the bottom right "Next"
at.
The SSD is then repartitioned, formatted and Win10 installed on it in one go.
When you come to the settings, I recommend you to make them as shown in the following video from minute 4:56:
As an alternative to the classic Win10 installation, you could also perform a Win10 restore.
