Stubborn virus caught (my sister's laptop)?

I don't know what happened there. Around 60,000 files are quarantined. Despite good Wi-Fi, only Internet Explorer works. With the other browsers you have to connect.

She sometimes plays on Origin, which is not certain at the moment. Constantly popups and advertisements.

Your laptop is currently unusable. Steam can no longer be opened at all. The only thing you can do with this device is write 🐒

I think you can forget it. I could also imagine that a hard reset no longer works.

Are there any real specialists here? I have been able to solve every such problem so far, but that is too bad for me. I also can't filter out any suspicious files or programs.

Rh

Insert Win 10 DVD, boot from it, format it and set it up again.

Rh

Complemental description: I require an existing backup.

Ax

I'm not so sure about that.

Ah

Make hard drive flat, reinstall Windows.

Or maybe a Linux system booted with a USB stick tries to find all the viruses.

Ro

Why is the best solution

Rh

And probably the only one.

Ro

Completely new set up means formatting the hard drive Windows on it, if you format the hard drive from a live operating system, then the virus can do nothing about it

Ro

Presumably, important data can be saved anyway, the virus can't put itself in every file Good luck;)

mi

Can't really do much (without much effort). Reinstalling Windows is the best and fastest way.

Ax

I know. I have a bad feeling whether the laptop will pack the reinstallation.

Ro

Why not?

Ax

Usually the best.

Despite everything, I somehow have the feeling that the laptop does not pack the reinstallation

Ax

I did it about a year ago. It took 3 days. Was stopped continuously by error messages.

Ro

Of course that's always bad. But that's a special case, because someone I know doesn't make backups just because it didn't work.

Ro

That is not a condition! Otherwise just make a backup if it still works or even from a live CD if you can

Co

What does that mean that hard reset shouldn't go?

It's relatively easy to get the thing up and running again in 20 minutes.

Iso on stick and boot, just flatten all hard drives and Pro on it.

Ax

No, it can't stay that way, that's for sure.

Ro

Or switch to Linux right away.

I like it much better than my Windows

Ax

Update:
Lubricated laptop when reinstalled, restarted on its own. Error message: The device was left in an unusable condition.

Clicked ok. Went out. Tried to start. Illuminated and smeared for a second…

She should just buy a reasonable one and not take her 8 year old laptop xD

Ro

Try it anyway, your PC should still work, Windows may no longer

Ax

If I feel like it and have the strength to do it, I'll take another look.
